Excited to be playing at home for the first time this year, Kings Hill Friendly XI won the toss and put the Davington Priory into bat. The cloudy skies look like they would support Kings Hill's seam attack. This paid off straight away as Mike Fall took a wicket with the very first ball of the game, caught one-handed by Simon Hutchinson at midwicket. Danny Thomas and Mike's fine bowling reduced Davington to 7 for 4. All of Kings Hill's bowlers performed well for the rest of the innings, and we supported by good fielding.

Mick Boreham took 3-21 of 8 overs and threatened the stumps. Phil Danbury bowled very well and kept it tight. Andy Sage took a big wicket. Usman Saifi was his usual metronomic self. For the opposition, skipper Dan Sadler scored a fine 66 not out.

The Kings Hill innings included contributions from Adam Lowing with 25 and Simon with 27. The conditions remained overcast throughout the afternoon and the ball continued to swing around corners. Nick Cranmer's fine 42 not out and Neil Thompstone's 10 red inker saw Kings Hill home with more than five overs to spare. All the batsmen played with control and kept the scoreboard ticking along through the innings.

Nick's tidy glove work and, most of all, his calm finishing innings gave him the nod for the red cap for man of the match, though Mick's bowling effort was close behind.

It was a great all round performance with everyone contributing to the win.
