Winning the toss, KHCC took the option of batting first and on an extremely challenging strip, and against a very good bowling attack accumulated runs slowly. James Pude scored 21 in a good partnership with debutant Nathan Faulkes. A few quick wickets left us three down, which brought in Ryan Carter. He and Nathan scored started to score more quickly and we posted a score of 182 for the loss of 3 wickets. Nathan ended on 56* and Ryan on 69*.

Gravesend scored at an even pace in the opening overs. Two sharp catches by Ryan Carter at point off the accurate bowling of Matt Ellis, followed by Tom Bray trapping the other opener LBW, left Gravesend three down with 58 on the board. With a change of attack, Ben Clarke and Danny McLean continued with the accurate bowling and removed the middle order to leave Gravesend on 109/8 off 23 overs.

In the midst of those wickets, was a fantastic shout by Nathan Faulkes. Whilst celebrating the 5th wicket as a team, Nathan sees number 7 striding in and makes it clear this batsman will swing hard first ball, based on matches played against him last season for Leybourne. Nathan is dispatched to cow corner and as predicted the batsman connected his first ball straight to cow corner for Nathan to take a great catch! Great call.

Before Tom Bray could clear up numbers 10 and 11, Logan Sims batted well to score 58 not out for Gravesend. Wickets all around with Matt and Ben taking two each and Danny and Tom three a piece.
